Grievance Policy
ABOUT THIS GRIEVANCE POLICY
This grievance policy explains what a grievance is and how you can raise one with Bemz. You should read this policy so you can understand who can raise a grievance, how to submit it and how it will be handled.
What is a grievance?
A grievance is a concern or complaint about the way Bemz, or anyone acting on our behalf, conducts its business. Grievances can be raised by any person working with or around Bemz, including employees, consultants, contractors, suppliers and their workers, business partners, customers and members of our local communities.
What type of grievances can be raised?
Grievances can relate to any aspect of our business. Examples include:
- Working conditions. Concerns about the work environment, health and safety or working hours.
- Treatment of people. Concerns about bullying, harassment, discrimination or unfair treatment.
- Ethical conduct. Breaches of the Bemz Code of Conduct, the Bemz Supplier Code of Conduct or applicable law.
- Social and environmental impact. Concerns about the impact of our products, operations or supply chain on people or the environment.
If your concern relates to an order, delivery or return, please contact our Customer Service team first, as they will be able to help you most quickly.
How do you raise a grievance?
Grievances should be sent by email to grievance@bemz.com, which is monitored by our CFO and CEO. You may use our Grievance Form or describe your concern in your email, including what happened, when and where it happened and who was involved. Grievances can be submitted in English or Swedish.
You may also raise a grievance anonymously. Anonymous grievances are taken seriously, but anonymity may limit our ability to investigate fully and to inform you of the outcome. Bemz employees may also report anonymously through the Speak Up tool in the Weekli app.
How do we handle your grievance?
We will acknowledge your grievance in writing within 3–5 working days. The grievance will then be investigated fairly and objectively, and the investigation is normally concluded within 30 working days. If more time is needed, we will inform you. Where a grievance concerns a person who would normally handle it, an independent investigator will be appointed. When the investigation is complete, you will receive a written outcome, including a summary of our findings and any actions taken.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may submit an appeal in writing within 10 working days. The appeal will be reviewed by a more senior person who was not involved in the original investigation.
How do we protect you?
All grievances are handled confidentially, and information is shared only with those who need it to handle the case. Bemz does not accept any form of retaliation against a person who raises a grievance in good faith or takes part in an investigation. Personal data is processed in accordance with the GDPR.
Raising a grievance with Bemz does not affect your right to contact an external body, such as the Swedish Equality Ombudsman (DO), the Swedish Work Environment Authority (Arbetsmiljöverket), your trade union or, for consumer disputes, the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
How Bemz can change the Grievance Policy?
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes in legislation, authorities' guidance or the B Corp standards may require us to update how we handle grievances. You should check this page occasionally to ensure you are familiar with any changes.
