The Art of Personal Expression

From the moment you step inside Chili Bendt’s home, her unique self-expression is clear. A Creative Producer, as well as a DJ and Stylist, Chili has a flare for bringing her passions and personality to life in her home. We met Chili at her beautifully renovated apartment in Gamla Enskede. Read on to discover how every texture, every photograph, and every carefully placed detail tells her story—of music, creativity, and a refusal to follow trends for the sake of it.

What’s the one investment piece that has completely transformed your space?

Textiles in all their forms have given our home a sense of cozy warmth, a personal touch, and creativity. By playing with different textures, colours, and patterns, we've created a unique and inviting atmosphere. Each room has developed its own character, where textiles such as cushions, curtains, and rugs bring life and personality to our home. It’s an ongoing process that makes our home feel both dynamic and personal.

If you had to pick a song that matches your interior style what would it be?

Siouxsie and The Banshees - Happy House.

What’s a design rule you love to break?

Rules? There are no rules.

Where do you find inspiration?

I mostly draw inspiration from stores and art galleries, but I also follow a number of interior designers and renovation experts online, where I find tons of exciting ideas. Additionally, I have the great luxury of being surrounded by creative friends, who constantly contribute new perspectives on style, lifestyle, and interior design.

Are you a constant rearranger, or do you commit to a look?

I enjoy changing things, but always with a sustainable perspective. For me, it’s almost like therapy to redo things, arrange flowers, move furniture around, and find new details that fit. We strive not to waste and care about the world’s resources. I mostly shop second-hand and sell what I no longer need. For every new item that comes in, I make sure at least two items go out.

What feeling do you want people to feel when entering your home?

My home is my sanctuary, and inviting others in is a big deal for me. When guests come over, I want them to feel completely relaxed and welcome. I love showering them with good food and drinks, and I always make sure the home is sparkling clean. Flowers in every room are a must for me; they bring life and harmony to the spaces. I do all this for my own sake, but most importantly, so my guests feel special and taken care of.

What’s one unexpected way you bring personality into your space—something that isn't just furniture or decor?

In our home, photographs of our favorite bands and artists decorate the walls. Along with books about music, subcultures, and art, they create an environment that truly reflects our interests. I believe in decorating in a way that’s not just about aesthetics, but also tells a story about what’s important to us. By choosing details that reflect our passions and values—from music to vintage items and heirlooms—we create a place that feels personal and authentic. It’s not just about filling the rooms with things, but creating an atmosphere where every object has its place and meaning. In this way, our home not only has its own style but also a unique personality and character that is truly us.

What’s the one interior trend you secretly don’t like?

Pastel colors in large amounts in anything other than children’s rooms are far from my personal style.
