IKEA Färlöv sofa review and why we love it
Timeless and classic - we think we have a new favourite.
There’s a new kid on the block, a new power-player that has got us completely hooked. Naturally we had to give our unsolicited two cents and review the IKEA Färlöv series. With the Färlöv sofa and armchair, IKEA has strayed off the beaten track and forsaken its signature minimal, nordic-inspired look and we’re totally into it. In this Färlöv sofa review we're making a case for this traditional looking sofa; it’s safe to say that the IKEA Färlöv series caters to a slightly different audience.
The IKEA Färlöv sofa and armchair is a curvaceous lady with elegantly sloped armrests (class, class, class), a deep and chic single-piece seat (which is also a novelty at IKEA), chic box pleats and lumbar cushions that are easily layered with accent pillows. This spacious sofa will work wonders in a classic setting, we like to imagine it as the Ektorp series’ sophisticated big sister. While we usually like to switch it up and steer clear from the matchy-matchy syndrome, we’re kinda liking the idea of pairing the sofa with the armchair for a coordinated look. With a slight, aspirational nod to Restoration Hardware’s and Pottery Barn’s collections you definitely get more bang and luxe for ye’ bucks with IKEA’s version plus a Bemz slipcover designed for Färlöv sofas and armchairs.
An added bonus: with its timeless appeal the Färlöv series is easily updated to suit your current style. Nail the luxe, art deco-inspired trend with a beautifully brushed velvet cover; if modern traditional is your jam, choose an elegant patterned fabric in a soft cotton and linen blend or opt for a relaxed, shabby chic aesthetic in a 100% Brera Lino Linen Bemz sofa cover made in collaboration with Designers Guild. With the myriad of decorating options that the Färlöv sofa and armchair from IKEA present we’re even longing for cooler, darker days to curl up on that snuggle-worthy sofa with a good book and a cuppa jo (in a more likely reality, Netflix ‘n’ chill).
