Classic, Cool Elegance
Introducing Cool Classic Elegance for a look that is sophisticated without feeling fussy. It’s classic Hollywood with a Scandinavian infusion, but there’s no need to plan every detail of a room - the choice, as always with Bemz, is entirely yours. The key to the look in this Bemz Trend Report is "ombonat", a décor concept in Sweden which loosely translates to snugness, but in practice it’s about paying attention to your surroundings in a way that makes people feel taken care of. Matching doesn’t have to be boring. Use variations on a single colour and add a few simple accessories to create a look that is harmonious without being uniform.
How to get the look
We used classic colours like pink, turquoise and dark blue, and added beige as a bridging colour to add freshness without losing softness. Our sofa cover in Betula Zinc Grey is accessorised up with cushions covered with vintage fabrics. We added brass lamps to play with symmetry and provide a dash of humour, for a truly "ombonat" flourish. This high-backed Söderhamn is the perfect place to serve a simple drink or special coffee - a timeless classic drink for a modern look. Or use the detail colours in patterns as your base, like the soft cool of teal, mixed with Ivy from Designers Guild. Even in nature, teal is an accent colour, named for the splash of greenish blue around the eye of the teal duck. You’ll find teal mixed with brown in our Brown Kvarter covers (Kvarter is also available in Wine and Orange). Choose what you like - your personality will be the fabric that really ties the room together. Remember not to over accessorise - the textiles will do the aesthetic heavy lifting for you!
