Curtains Guide

Custom sewn curtains are available in the same beautiful array of textiles as Bemz design covers. We offer 4 different heading styles and flexible sizing – anywhere from 50 cm narrow panels up to a dramatic 6 metres long.

  • Popular sizes
  • Bemz fabric for curtains
  • Four styles of curtain heading
  • Made-to-measure

In addition to our curtains with pre-determined dimensions, you can also order made-to-measure curtains to suit unconventional window sizes.

    Heading Tape Curtains

    A) Width:

    1. Measure your curtain rod or track to determine the width of curtain(s) needed. If ordering a pair of curtains, divide your curtain rod length in two.

    2. To ensure you have enough extra fabric to form folds in the heading tape when using curtain hooks, multiply your rod or track width by 1.5 cm to 2 cm. This will achieve a soft gathered look when your curtains are closed.

    B) Length:

    1. Measure from the top of the curtain rod or track to where you want your curtains to end.

    2. If using curtain rings to attach your curtain to the curtain rod or track, measure from the bottom of the rings/clips to where you want the curtain to end. Rings/clips are typically 4 cm below the curtain track/rod, (e.g., see IKEA's SYRLIG curtain rings with clip and hook.)

    Tab Top Curtains

    A) Width:

    1. Measure your curtain rod to determine the width of curtain(s) needed.

2. If ordering a pair of curtains, divide your curtain rod length in two then add a further 5 cm to the width measurement of each curtain. This will allow the curtains to overlap in the middle when closed.

    B) Length:

1. Measure from the top of the curtain rod to where you want the curtains to end.

    Eyelet Top Curtains

    A) Width:

Add on a further 3 cm to the measured length to account for the fabric above the metal edged holes that run horizontally across the top of the curtain rod.

    Rod Pocket Curtains

    A) Width:

    1. Measure your curtain rod or track to determine the width of curtain(s) needed.

2. If ordering a pair of curtains, divide your curtain rod length in two then add a further 5 cm to the width measurement of each curtain. This will allow the curtains to overlap in the middle when closed.

    B) Length:

    1. Measure from the top of the curtain rod or track to where you want the curtains to end.

2. If using curtain rings to attach your curtain to the curtain rod/track, measure from the bottom of the rings/clips to where you want the curtain to end (typically 4 cm below the curtain track/rod).
